Determine the type of material you're sending. Below is a quick sample list of how some common items are classified. This is not an exhaustive list—there are hundreds more!
But it should help you get a feel for where your item might fit.

2. Follow the Instructions in That Section

• Biological products

What if my shipment fits more than one category?

Some shipments may fall under multiple categories—for example, a reagent dissolved in buffer might include both chemical and biological components.

In these cases:

• You may need to include multiple declarations, or

• Choose the higher classification based on risk and regulatory oversight.

Tip: When in doubt, Biological is typically the highest-risk category and should be selected to ensure compliance.
